Well we all knew it would come down to this. Brett Favre is no longer a Green Bay Packer. Its going to be awfully weird to see him in that disgusting NY Jet green (yes I’m Dolfan damn it). This is what he wanted and I’m really curious to see if he and his family are ready for that juggernaut known as the New York Media. Over the last 16 or so years he’s been in Green Bay, he’s had his way with the media and the fans there. They loved him unconditionally. Even with all of those dumb ass interceptions he’d throw from time to time, he got a free pass.
He had an addiction to painkillers at one point in his career and the media forgave him and painted that out to be part of his “sacrifice” and “love” for the game. Meanwhile, they’ve been trying to ban my boy Ricky Williams for his love of that stickey ickey!
I don’t wanna hear that crap about one being pills and one being weed, hey a drug is a damn drug! He’s treated Aaron Rodgers like a redheaded stepchild ever since they drafted the kid. No one focuses on that either. Its been ALL positives when it comes to Brett Favre, regardless of what he’s said or done.
Ooohhhh but his ass in the NYC now. Where the media don’t give a damn. Where the fans will love you until you have a 3 interception game and cause Vinny to lose $500 on the point spread.
I cannot wait to see how Favre handles the unfriendly media, who will do all that it can to push his buttons. I want to see how he handles those Boo-birds who will be out in force when he costs them a game and he will cost them at least a game or two. I bet A-Rod can’t wait for the games to start so they can get up out of his business and put a new face on the back pages of the news papers.
I was really sick of this story, but now I’m more intrigued than ever. First thing that catches my attention is the fact that this dude is going to have to learn a whole new playbook. If you follow football, you know that Mr. Favre is not a Peyton Manning type dude. He’s not that dude that’s going to sit in the house and watch film of every defensive possession his next opponent has had. He’s not going to stay late after practice to go over strategy and this week’s playbook. Dude hasn’t been to a QB’s meeting since Mike Holmgren coached Green Bay. Now at 38, you think he’s going to change/adjust? Plus Eric Man-Genius’s playbook is thicker than a Webster’s dictionary.
2nd, how much pressure do you think is on Aaron Rodgers and the Packers Head Brass’ shoulders right about now? Every fan in Green Bay is now not really rooting for Rodgers. I think they’re all waiting on him to screw up. The weekly comparisons are going to be crazy. ESPN and the boys are going to be doing side-by-side comparisons of their stats ALL SEASON. I gotta give it to him, he’s handle this with a lot class. But the minute he loses to the Vikings or Bears at Lambeau field, he won’t get that standing ovation and love ya boy Favre got after throwing that dumb ass interception in that loss in the NFC title game.
As for Ted Thompson and Coach Mike McCarthy, this is their call. Just remember back to 1998, Chicago Bulls GM Jerry Krause was in such a rush to move on to the future. Michael Jordan wanted to bring the dynasty back for 1 more run at the title. Krause was insistent on moving forward so he didn’t re-sign Scottie Pippen and decided it was time to rebuild for the future. MJ retired and the Bulls haven’t sniffed a championship since! These guys are either going to look like football gurus or Dumb & Dumber when its all said and done.
Aside from watching every damn game and keeping track of my fantasy football team, we now have a brand new storyline to throw into the soap opera known as the NFL Season. All i know is these damn Dolphins better win more than 1 damn game this year!!!
