Can’t say I’m surprised this happened. Jason Taylor, the lone All-Pro on the Miami Bad News Dolphins, was traded to the Washington Redskins yesterday. I’m glad dude doesn’t have to be involved with this latest attempt at rebuilding the Dolphins into a winner. While the Redskins aren’t the Giants or Cowboys, who aren’t far from the Super Bowl. At least now, he has a chance to play in games that actually mean something.
He also can get away from Bill Parcells aka Grumpy Smurf. From day 1, it seemed that Parcellswent out of his way to be an ass towards Taylor. I guess its part of his make-up, but it seems like everywhere Parcells goes, he has some sort of friction with a player(s). A grown man shouldn’t be this petty with another grown man. If this dude has interest outside of football, he should be able to pursue them. Does anyone honestly think his exploits on Dancing with the Stars makes any bit of difference on whether the Dolphins win? if so, then you’re one of those jackasses who lives and dies with every play made during a preseason game.
Another question, why is it such a big deal to attend these voluntary offseason workouts? Its VOLUNTARY damn it…last time I checked, voluntary meant “of one’sown freewill”. So basically, I don’t have to go if I don’t want to. If I have to go, it ceases being voluntary. Twinkle Toes Taylor decided to go shake his ass on tv and skip out on the voluntary workouts. In return, Parcells gave JT the shitty attitude during their first meeting. Not even acknowledging the man’s presence. Yeah you’re Bill Parcells, but do you have to be such a dick?
Before you jump on me defending this grumpy old man, remember that the last time dude actually won a Super Bowl was 1990. To let you know how long ago that was some of the top songs from that year were Michael Bolton’s “How am I supposed to live without you”, Sinhead O’Connor’s”Nothing Compares to You”, that rap legend Vanilla Ice had “Ice Ice Baby”, and Mariah Carey’s 1st song “Vision of Love” came out that year too. That’s a long ass time ago people! So in my eyes, Bill doesn’t have the juice to be acting stank with people.
At the end of the day, this was a good deal for all parties involved. Taylor is now somewhere else, away from cantankerous old fart. Now playing in a city and on a team where he has a chance to make a difference. Plus the NFC is decidedly weaker than the AFC, so if you’re going to get to the Super Bowl, the NFC has an easier route. Will the Redskins make it that far? Probably not, but they won’t be 1-15 like last years Dolphins and Taylor will finally be able to play in a postseason game. Something the Dolphins haven’t done in a long while.
For the Dolphins, this gives the team another building block to build upon. A 2nd round pick can be just as good, if not better, than a 1st rounder. Plus you don’t have to pay them one of those enormous signing bonuses these rookies who’ve never played an NFL down get. If the Dolphins are going to build through the draft then they need as many picks as possible. Hopefully, The Tuna will pick the right players and they Miami Dolphins will be back in the thick of things.
So to close, I leave you with a vintage performance from Mr. Twinkle Toes Taylor
