What the hell is going on with Brett Favre??? This is starting to get a little crazy right??? I tried to avoid talking about this, thinking this would all blow over, but I think the next step is Favre calling GM Ted Thompson’s momma names or something. Its all getting a little silly.
I’m not really sure whose side I’m on at the moment either. I can see both sides’ point of view and understand why each feels the way they do. If you’re Brett Favre, you’ve given everything to this team, organization, and city. You just had one of your best years individually and your team was a drive away from the Super Bowl. In your mind, if you can still play, hell, why not play!!! Also, you’re human, you have the right to change your mind, don’t you?
If you’re the Pack, you’ve dealt with the seesaw of whether or not this guy was going to come back for like the last 4 years. You even invested a 1st round pick on a QB, because you had no idea when this guy was going to say, “I’m done”. He finally gets on stage and announces to the world, crying and all, that he’s retiring. Retiring to a life of playing touch football in the backyard wearing them tight ass, nut-hugging Wrangler Jeans So what do the Pack do? They move on of course. They have Aaron Rodgers waiting in the wings. The team has finally moved on and have adjusted to life A.F. (After Favre). Now this dude is saying he wants to come back.
I can see why the Packers feel the way that they do. this dude has the whole organization on pause while he decides what he wants to do. But here’s my question, do you think the Chicago Bulls would have told Michael Jordan, “hey you can come out of retirement, but as a backup”? Hell naw, so why are they doing that to one of the greatest QB’s of all-time?
I’ve seen people comparing this to the whole Joe Montana-Steve Young situation, where Montana was pretty much forced out of San Fran, but I don’t agree with that. In that case, Montana had missed a significant amount of time due to injury and Steve Young had already been a starter in the league. You had an idea of what he was capable of. Not like Rodgers, who got his 1st real playing time in the GB/Dallas game last year. He played well, but that’s one game. Not a 16 game regular season!
Finally, while I recognize Favre is one of the all-time greats, that doesn’t give him the right to be making demands and going on TV crying like a biatch talking about he wants his “unconditional realease”. Why in the hell would Green Bay do that? So he can go sign with the Bears or Vikings and come back to Lambeau field and kill the Packers? Brett you must be crazy! He’s fighting this battle through the media and at the end of the day, I believe its going to make HIM look like the jackass.
So boys and girls, you have a 1st ballot Hall of Famer who can still play at an All-Pro level who wants to play. You have an organization who wants to move forward and refuses to be held hostage by anyone, even if its the greatest player that organization has ever had. I’m not a fan of either the team nor the player. At this point, I just want this whole thing to be over with so I don’t have to hear about it anymore. If the Pack are so committed to moving forward, let him come back and then trade him to my sorry ass Miami Dolphins!
CASE CLOSED!!!

If the Packers want to win this year, you bring back Favre. Last time I checked the NFL was about winning now and winning while you have a window. The Packers don’t have time for Rodgers to learn on the job.
