There’s No Place Like Home???

I’ll admit it, I haven’t always liked Baron Davis. For some reason he always kind of rubbed me the wrong way. But there is no denying that this cat has major skills and when healthy, is one of the very best point guards in the NBA. Since he’s been in Golden State, I’ve become a fan of his. How could you not when he’s dunking on dudes like this Take that shit back to Russia…lol

But I’m still reeling over the fact that he signed to play in his hometown, to play with Elton Brand, and instead dude is all alone. He has no one to ball with in Clipper land. Yeah they gave Denver a bag of peanut M&M’s for Marcus Camby, but doesn’t that feel like a desperation move? Its like they said “ok, we lost Brand, even Corey Maggette hauled ass, hey Denver doesn’t want Marcus Camby! He has a recognizable name! Let’s get him to make our fans feel like we’re building a winner!”. Ummm, I don’t think so Coach Dunleavy.

Lets take a look at what they have. We know Baron Davis is the shit! Al Thornton is a young guy with promise, who had an excellent rookie year. This year’s 1st round pick, Eric Gordon, has looked solid in the summer league and is showing ridiculous range on the jumper. Chris Kaman is solid but nothing to really write home about. Then there’s Camby, who blocks shots and rebounds and was defensive player of the year a couple seasons ago. That’s decent if you were in the eastern conference and you only need to win 35 games to make the playoffs. We’re talking about the western conference people! The conference where 48 wins gets you a lottery pick!

If I’m Baron Davis today, I’m disappointed as hell. I’m reaching back to my days in New Orleans to get one of them creole gals to throw some voodoo on big Elton’s ass. While I’m sure he’s happy to be home and I know he’s going to have an awesome impact on the children in that community, I can’t help but feel bad that this dude is now in basketball purgatory with the Clippers. Its like the basketball version of “Lost” and Brand got off the damn island, while Baron is stuck there being terrorized by “The Others”. I could go on and on about how stank Brand is for bouncing on L.A., but he’s a grown ass man and can do as he pleases. Its all a business anyway and there really is no loyalty in sports anymore. I just wish he would have come to the damn Heat!

At the end of the day, I think basketball fans are going to be deprived of seeing one of its brightest stars. With the Clippers stinking, they won’t be a popular choice for nationally televised games. I’m also going to miss the run-n-gun style the Warriors played. Monte Ellis, Davis, and Stephen Jackson were so much fun to watch. As a true lover of basketball, I will miss seeing that trio run circles around the NBA. OMG Baron Davis looked like he tore Tony Allen ACL on #1

Good Luck B, hope it feels good to be home!!!
