Well Kobe and the crew prevented the inevitable for another day. I didn’t think Boston would win game 5, but man did they have their chances.
I hate to do this, but I gotta call out KG today. That’s my boy and I love his intensity and passion for the game, but in that 4th qtr, he had chances to make plays and didn’t. He missed 2 critical freethrows that seemed to deflate the Celtics team and it didn’t help that he was in foul trouble. Dude committed some silly fouls being undisciplined on defense against Pau Gasol. He really looked flustered out there at times and this is why people say he hasn’t won anything yet. He can’t come through in the clutch. He had 2 opportunities to tie that game and he missed 3 freethrows. He also had 2 rebound tips at the basket that he should have made as well. You know the criticism is going to come from all angles at him today. Knowing the type of pride he has, I see him bouncing back extremely strong in game 6. I agree with Mark Jackson, that’s a grown man move. Grown men hit their damn freethrows too. KG’s waited too long for this chance not to come through. The Big Ticket WILL play great in Game 6.
Ray Allen also missed some wide open 3’s that could have swung the game the Celtics way, but I guess it was too much to ask for two huge miracle comebacks in the same building.
What more can you say about Paul Pierce. Except for that lucky steal by Kobe, Pierce was the dominate force in game 5. Showing that regardless of who is guarding him, he’s going to score. Even when Kobe came over there, Pierce took it right to him. He has been the best player in this series and I fully expect him, like Kobe in game 5, to come out guns blazing in game 6 and end the Lakers season. I said it from the beginning, Boston in 6, now the Celtics need to go home and take care of business.
This is far from a done deal though. If the Celtics believe that the Lakers are going to lie down and hand them the title, they’re crazy. They need to come out tomorrow and jump on L.A. early. Kimbo Slice them boys in the mouth and let them know that this series is over! Announcers always say that role players play better at home. Look for Rajon Rondo to have a good game. Kobe is not guarding him at all and this kid refuses to even look at the basket! In boston he should be more confortable scoring. I know this much, Doc Rivers will not be playing around in game 6. Rondo will have a short leash. If he comes out hesitant and allows Kobe to roam all over the floor double teaming Eddie House, James Posey, or Sam Cassell will be in the game quickly!
Its time for everyone on the Celts to step up, because if you get to a game 7, all bets are off. I do not want to take my chances in a game 7 with Kobe Bryant. Boston needs to end this series tomorrow!!!
I’m looking for Boston’s crowd to be extra rowdy! Speaking of rowdy, have you ever seen their intro??? Shit makes you wanna go dunk on somebody!!!!
They haven’t won it all since 1986. They last time they made it to the Finals, Magic Johnson broke their hearts with the baby skyhook and won the title on the Boston Garden court. So these fans are starving for a title. The players are too and I fully expect the Big 3 and the rest of the Celtics to really take it to the Lakers and send Kobe’s ass home!
Go Big 3!!!
