Last night was one of the best games and comebacks I’ve ever seen. I was in the AAA when D. Wade snatched Dallas’ heart in game 3 of the finals when he single-handedly brought the Heat back from a double-digit deficit to win that game and avoid going down 0-3. That was a great performance!!!
But last night, Paul Pierce was the definition of a leader. With his team getting crushed, he told Doc Rivers, “give me the ball, give me Kobe”. He showed his team that no matter what the score was, they were going to keep playing. When things were going bad, did you see Pierce pouting, yelling at teammates, making faces when guys missed shots? Nope, you saw Pierce take over the game on both ends of the floor. His team fed off of that, they rallied behind him, and they took that game from the Lakers and snatched Kobe’s heart out. Paul Pierce is doing what people expected Kobe to do. He’s raised his level of play and is showing the world he IS the unquestioned leader of this Celtics team.
Speaking of leadership, where was Kobe’s last night? When they were up by 24 he was pumping the fist, showing off when he hit jumpshots, encouraging his teammates. See its easy to be a leader when everything is going well. What happened when the Celtics were chipping away at that lead? Kobe was glaring at people, pouting on the court. Did you see one bit of encouragement from this dude to his team? Did he once pull his team aside and try to get them back on track? Nope!!! All you saw was this dude pouting like a big ass baby out there on the court…
Don’t ever compare this cat to Michael Jordan ever again!!! Jordan would have never allowed a lead like this in the finals to slip away. I’m done talking about these damn Lakers, lets talk about Ray Allen, James “Big Game” Posey, KG, and Eddie House.
You talk about stepping up and raising your level of play. Ray Allen who had struggled so much in the 1st two and a half rounds is playing like the all-star he’s been the last 8 years. He took ya boy Sasha to school and made one of the sickest reverse layups I’ve ever seen!!! Peep the hangtime on this shot,,,
Hey Sasha, how does it feel to have been taken to school by Ray Allen in front of the whole world?
I know if they win, Pierce will get the MVP, but you can make a very strong case for Ray Allen to be MVP of these finals. He’s been the lone Celtic who has been consistently good all series and he’s done a great job of defending Kobe.
What more can you say about Eddie House & Posey. You talk about being a champion, Posey is a champion. He makes the biggest plays at the biggest times and what a teammate. Whether he’s in the game or on the bench, Posey is always encouraging his teammates getting them pumped up.
Eddie House came off that bench when the Lakers weren’t guarding Rondo and not only did he hit huge shots like this one he also played great defense and at 5′11″, got inside and grabbed rebounds with the big guys!
KG was outstanding, he was in the post (FINALLY!!!) and showed that no one on that Lakers team can guard him 1-on-1. This was the greatest comeback I’ve ever seen! I was so hyped I couldn’t sleep…lol
And Doc Rivers out coached Phil Jackson last night. Going with the small lineup and putting Posey and House in was a brilliant move. He was also calm and kept his team’s heads in the game. If you watched the huddles, down by 24 Rivers told his team “lets compete, just compete and we’ll get back in this game”. Later when they cut the lead to about 9, he had his team in a huddle and asked them “Do you believe? Do you believe now?”. Coaching is more than X’s and O’s its getting your team to focus on one goal and achieve that goal together. The Celtics did that last night and I can’t wait for them to dance on L.A.’s court on Father’s day. KG just had his 1st son a couple of months ago, I’d love to see him win his 1st title on his 1st father’s day.
Go Big 3!!!
