I know I’m a day late with my review of game 3, but I wanted to make sure I got my thoughts in order. After game 3, I was so pissed at KG that I had to wait before I put my observations about game 3 into cyberspace. A day has passed and damn it I’m still pissed at KG! If he shoots another jumpshot, Doc Rivers should kick him in the throat!
In the Detroit series, the Celtics made a concerted effort to get KG the ball inside against Rasheed Wallace. Arguably one of the best post defenders in the NBA. Against the Lakers, KG is floating further and further away from the basket! Why?!?!? Do you see who’s guarding you? Weak ass Pau Gasol man!!! I need more of this KG in the finals if the Celtics are going to win…
I’m giving Paul Pierce a pass because I think his knee was really bothering him. Knowing a thing or two about knee issues, I know flying cross country with a swollen knee is no fun. He still needs to be more aggressive as far driving to the hoop, but I’ll give him a pass for game 3. I’m expecting finals MVP Pierce to be back in action game 4.
Despite their atrocious shooting percentage and 2 of the Big 3 playing terrible, the Celtics still had a chance to win that game. There’s a couple ways to look at it. You can be encouraged if you’re the Celtics, because you know KG and Pierce aren’t going to shoot like that again. But, you should also feel like you let one get away. If you have a 5 point lead late in a ballgame, you have to find a way to win. Simple and plain, you HAVE to win that game.
As for Kobe and the Lakers, the greatest player in the world finally played like it. I can’t stand his ass, but he IS the best. He is definitely the best closer in the NBA. He was much more aggressive, expecting some homecooking, which they got. He basically did this alone, because Gasol and Lamar Odom have been missing from this series so far
The Lakers cannot and will not win this series without great performances from 1 or both of these guys. They can’t expect Sasha Vujacic to score 20 every night and bail them out. Speaking of Sasha, how you let a dude named Sasha score 20 points???
I’m expecting a much better game in game 4. I think the one day in between travel days hurt both teams. On the Boston side, look to see better shooting percentages and a more aggressive KG and Pierce from the tip. KG will be in the post shooting that beautiful fadeaway and Pierce won’t be as gimpy on that knee. For the Lakers, Look for Kobe to be Kobe. I see the Lakers running more, pushing the ball, and getting out in the open floor. In the halfcourt, they’ll do a better job of running the triangle and that should get Gasol and Odom more involved.
My pick…Celtics take a close one in game 4. With this ref scandal going on, I think there won’t be as many freethrows in this game as the last two. Hopefully it’ll flow like game 1. I’m ready to see Aggressive, passionate KG take one in L.A.!!!!
GO KG!!!
